ISG AFI - Industry Specification Group on Autonomic Network Engineering for the Self-Managing Future Internet
Scope
The objective of ETSI AFI Industry Specification Group is to develop pre-standard specifications for Autonomic Network Engineering for the Self-Managing Future Internet. There is currently two ongoing work items:
- WI#1 - Scenarios, Use Cases, and Requirements for Autonomic/Self-Managing Future Internet. The target of this WI is thedescription of scenarios, use cases, and definition of requirements for the Autonomic/Self-Managing Future Internet. Scenarios and use cases should reflect real-world problems, which can benefit from the application of Autonomic/Self-Management principles.
- WI#2 - Generic Autonomic Network Architecture. The target of this WI is to design a generic autonomic/self-managing network architecture as reference model for engineering the Future Internet.
ALBLF is currently acting as vice-chair of ETSI AFI and Rapporteur of WI#2, while FT is acting as Rapporteur of WI#1. Moreover, a large number of UniverSelf partners are active members of this working group. The status of these work items and related draft document, as well as further details on the AFI work and meetings, are available on the ETSI portal: http://portal.etsi.org/portal/server.pt/community/AFI/.
Opportunities
Monitor the current activities and contribute to the ongoing work items (especially based on UMF contributions):
- Scenarios, Use Cases, and Requirements for Autonomic/Self-Managing Future Internet.
- Generic Autonomic Network Architecture, UMF and UMF related terminology.
There is also the possibility to propose new work items in line with the project objectives and outputs.
Timeline
Short-term - Monitor, attend meetings and contribute to ongoing work if relevant. We shall first focus on achieving the project agenda and milestones (our main drivers).
